Cosmetic surgery in Medellin is not a sideline that grew out of tourism. It is a long-established domestic specialty with a deep local patient base, which is why the concentration of plastic surgeons in El Poblado and Laureles is so high and why prices stay competitive without the marketing markup you find in destinations built for foreigners.
That depth cuts both ways. A crowded market means real choice, and it also means operators at every level of rigour. The entire purpose of this site is to help you tell them apart before you have paid a deposit.

Get oriented on price
Start from the typical range for your procedure so you can read a quote critically. A number far below the band usually means something has been left out of it.
Verify before you deposit
Confirm the surgeon's current ReTHUS registration and specialty training, and confirm where the operation will actually take place. Both checks are free and take minutes.
Plan the whole stay
Budget for the full recovery window, not just the surgery date. Most body procedures need two to three weeks before a surgeon will clear you to fly.
